On Saturday 2 May 2020, the Sony TV releases a short video on its official social media sites handles and features Bachchan stating that the audition process for 12th edition will start from 9 May 2020 and will conclude on 23 May 2020.[38][39][40] Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the show will be delayed for its airing.
The shootings of 12th season has been started by Bachchan on 7th September 2020 and he also posted first look of set on his official Twitter handle.[41] The twelfth season started airing from 28th September 2020, with a tagline "Jo bhi ho, har setback ka jawab comeback se do" (जो à¤ी हो, हर सेटबेक का जवाब कमबेक से दो). Aarti Jagtap resident of Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) was the first contestant of the season 12.
In this season, due to the pandemic, Audience Poll has been replaced by Video a Friend similar to Call a Friend in previous seasons.[42]
